Progress on our new building
|
Our vision for Hill Park Baptist Church includes putting a new building on the site that we now own. Our desire
is to become a focus and an influence on the local community that we seek to serve. This page will help you
keep track of where we are, and we hope you will pray for this work. The pictures above will give you an idea
of the look of the new building
21st November 2001: After about 10 years as a church plant we parted company (on good terms) with
Fareham Baptist Church, and set about fund raising to purchase the site from the Brethren who had owned the
site since 1936, and established a beach head for the gospel.
24th October 2003: We purchased the site - utterly amazed by the speed with which the money came in - our
God is Awesome.
12th June 2004: We were adopted as Church of the Year by the Southern Counties Baptist Association partly
because of our project to build a new church. Before the Assembly Day ended we had meet the Architectural
Technologist who was to guide us along the way.
20th November: Ian Knight had captured our vision on paper and plans were submitted to Fareham Council.
It was not an easy job as we have a long thin site with various planning restrictions.
(If you would like Ian's contact details - please contact us through our contacts page in the first instance)
13th January 2005: Fareham Borough Council Rejected our plans
8th March: On site Meeting with planning office to discuss issues.
Following those discussions we are amending plans in preparation for a resubmission.
6th May 2005: Informal meeting with planning officer to discuss revised plans. It was recommended that we
now re-submit the amended plans formally.
19th May 2005: Plans re-submitted to Fareham Council.
13th July 2005: PLANS APPROVED - Thanks to all who have prayed for us.
21st July 2006: Initial letters sent to builders to obtain firmer quotations
October 2006: Initial quotes have confirmed the estimate at around £350,000
May 2010: Looks unlikely that we will be able to start work in July, so we are looking to extend the planning
permission.
Dec 2010: 3yr extension granted so 2011 will see us getting real serious about this - please pray!
Nov 2011 : Our first grant submission made - we are new to this so please pray.
Feb-12: Application declined (no reasons given) - but new opportunity arises!
The Lord continues to bless us as although we are a small congregation our building fund is over
£152,000, and as yet we have not received any grants or undertaken any serious fund-raising beyond
our church group and contacts. The expected cost of the building is around £400,000.
Should you wish to contribute to our fund we would be really blessed. Please contact us for details.
